Free Service for Rebuilding
I have an offer for those who lost so much last year. It’s my own small way of hoping to give back and build community.
Last year so many people in our province lost homes in the fires. It hit us particularly hard with the Adams Lake fire starting on top of the mountain just behind my parents’ home. A lot of hard work by my dad, some by me, and much by BC Wildfire air crews combined with a decent amount of luck and we didn’t lose the family home, but it was a very scary time.
My offer is simple: my services as an Energy Advisor on any rebuilding project in my service region will be completely free to the homeowner for the first 5 homes committed. This will include all the testing, modeling, code compliance, and file submission, as well as ventilation system designs, IDP consulting, and a mid-construction blower door test with leakage identification procedures. I am also a Certified Passive House Consultant so if anyone wants to build to that level I will offer that service for free for one home as well. For any homes beyond the first five, I will have to charge a basic fee, but will continue to add on the extra services for free. I have no idea how this will work, and reserve the right to cut the program off if it gets out of my reach, but I truly hope I can help some people here. We were lucky, and I’m so sorry that you’ve had to go through losing your home. Click the contact section and fill out the form, reference the fire rebuild and we will get to work on rebuilding life.
The cover image for this entry I have also added below. These photos are familiar to us all, this was taken by my dad from the dock.
*Please note that if there are relevant rebates paid by utilities or governments specifically for energy advisor services through grant programs I will accept those, the point is to volunteer for the person who’s lost their home, not to leave grant money on the table.
