Our Team
The team at Station Craft is small, and dedicated. We are a building science consultancy specializing in HVAC system design, building envelope design and engineering, energy advising for code compliance, on site testing and analysis, and everything else nerdy about construction. We spend our days helping our clients achieve higher step code levels in the most cost and time effective way possible, all while mitigating risk and reducing call-backs.
Ben Station - REA, CPHC
Founder, Lead Consultant
Ben is the founder of Station Craft, a Red Seal Carpenter turned high performance building fanatic.
Frustrated with the constant disconnect between design, engineering, on-site execution, and the impractical details drawn by designers with no building experience he went back to school to focus in-depth on building science. Specializing in building envelope systems, HVAC systems, and energy design, our senior energy advisor (R.E.A) now focuses on bridging practical construction knowledge strategies to code compliance requirements in energy modeling and system design.
He’s the one in charge or making sure your build is value engineered to suit your specific goals, all while keeping simplicity and buildability in mind for your trade teams. He also feels awkward writing in the third person.
John DeVenz, P.Eng., PMP
Director, Building Science
John is a professional engineer and project management professional with over 30 years experience in the energy industry. He employs his expertise in building science and energy efficiency to help builders design and construct quality homes that are energy efficient, long-lasting and cost effective. He is currently in the process of obtaining his Building Science Specialist designation (https://bssb.ca/) to further improve his expertise that can be applied to the design and construction of high-quality homes.
Josiah Bunn
Junior Energy Advisor
Josiah is a dedicated Junior Energy Advisor with a strong background in construction. His hands-on experience in construction turned into a desire to be educated in building technologies, which made him a natural fit with Station Craft, where we value on site experience as a lens to view all design through. A recent graduate from Okanagan College’s Sustainable Building Technology program, Josiah brings a passion for energy-efficient and sustainable building design to the team and handles much of our on site testing of structures.
